The Musical

San Franciso

As with all new musical productions, Lestat premiered out of town.  The show had it's world premiere on December 17, 2005 at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco.  Lestat became the highest grossing show at the theater and sold out its run.

In it's initial incarnation, the show included elements from the first three novels of The Vampire Chronicles - Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, and The Queen of the Damned.

Only about a week into it's run, the character of Armand was recast.  Jack Noseworthy was replaced by his understudy, Drew Sarich.  The producers decided to take the character in a different direction and Jack no longer fit the part.

When the show closed in San Francisco on January 29, 2006 to move to New York, the producers took note of what the critics had said as well as the audience reactions and took time to prepare the show for the Broadway audiences.
